Help the family of Feras Awda, the boy who symbolized resistance to oppression, survive Gaza
United States
Hello, I am “Enaam”, Umm Fares Awda. I am 65 years old, the mother of the martyred child Fares Awda, who stood in the face of the tank, defending his land with a stone. The tank killed him with a bullet that entered his body and severed his tendons in the year 2000,
My heart broke for him, leaving behind his father and brothers. I have two sons with special needs who suffered greatly from the loss of Fares, as he cared for them despite his young age. Due to the intensity of my grief over him, I developed high blood pressure and diabetes and had an eye operation from the abundance of tears and grief. I have lived bitter years and days until this moment over his loss. Since this genocide came, I lost my home that my husband and I established stone by stone, and in it are all the memories of my son Fares, my children and grandchildren. We became homeless, and I and my children suffered, especially my children with special needs and my grandchildren. I will talk about the suffering of my children and grandchildren.
My husband, Fayeq Awda, is 70 years old and suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. He lost his job when the war began and lost the effort he made in building his home. He suffers every day when he sees his children suffering.
My sons with special needs: Fadl Awda, 43 years old, and Kamal Awda, 46 years old. They suffered greatly in the war, and we suffered in providing for their special needs and medications. They became very tired from being displaced from place to place due to their poor health conditions.
My son, Mohammed, was injured in the genocide when a quadcopter dropped a bomb directly on him. He underwent heart surgery, but he still needs treatment and medication to complete his recovery.
My son Issa, 30 years old, used to live with me. He lost his job since the beginning of the genocide. He has children and he and his children and wife suffered greatly in the war. He was injured while trying to provide food for his parents, wife and children from humanitarian aid.
My son Issa’s wife, “Walaa”, is 26 years old. She and her children suffered a lot during the genocide. She suffered a lot because of displacement and the lack of food for her children to feed them in the shadow of the genocide and famine. She suffered a lot from cooking on firewood. She has a daughter named Tala who has special needs.
My granddaughter Tala, 10 years old, has special needs. Her treatment has been delayed because of the war. Tala dreams of learning and completing her life like other children, safely, away from fear, bombing, and hunger. Tala needs to travel abroad to complete her treatment.
My grandson Mohammed is 7 years old. He dropped out of school because of the genocide and now carries a displacement bag instead of a school bag. He suffers from malnutrition because of the famine. He dreams a house to go to after going to school and eating a complete meal like other children.
My grandson Fares is 3 years old. He spent two years of his life in genocide. He never saw the bombing, hunger, and displacement from one place to another. He is very afraid of the sound of bombing and suffers from malnutrition due to famine.
I lost my son Fares and my heart broke for him. I don’t want to lose my children and grandchildren. I lost my home in the genocide, and now I live in a semi-destroyed warehouse. The landlord is asking me for a monthly rent, but I can’t pay it because my husband and son lost their jobs. I appeal to your kind hearts to donate and help me, my children, and my grandchildren so I can buy medicine, food, and shelter in these difficult and famine-ridden conditions. Every donation means a life to my family and saves their lives. After the genocide ends, I will use the donations to build my home and treat my granddaughter Tala and my sons Fadl and Kamal, who have special needs. I will also start a project for my son Issa to build a future for my children and grandchildren. Every donation, no matter how small, means a life to an entire family.
